Our Staff
Dave Steinbeck, Lead Pastor
First of all the important stuff, I’m married to my high school sweetheart, Heather. When we were in high school, she is actually the one who led me to begin my relationship with Jesus. How cool is that? We have two kids, Madison is 11 and Eli is 9. God teaches me so much through parenting them. We both grew up around the Eureka area. I graduated from Eureka College with a degree in Elementary Education. After graduation, I went to work at State Farm in Bloomington. In early 2001, God called Heather and I to start a new church in our hometown of Eureka. Over the next few years, a small launch team of families began dreaming and praying about Crosspoint. In August of 2003, Crosspoint started regular Sunday services. In 2007, God opened the door for me to go full-time as a pastor at Crosspoint. In July 2007, after being at State Farm for nearly 10 years, I left to be the Community Life/Teaching Pastor at Crosspoint. I graduated with a Masters in Ministry Leadership from Rockbridge Seminary in the Fall of 2008. Then in the Spring of 2009, God opened the door for me to move into the role of Lead Pastor at Crosspoint.
My heart is relationships. A growing relationship with God, authentic relationships with one another in the Body of Christ, and building new relationships with people in our communities! In my spare time, I love playing and coaching basketball, playing acoustic guitar, and hanging out with my family and friends. I look forward to growing and serving alongside you in the journey that is ahead!
Erik Johnson, Worship & Student Pastor
Bree Johnson, Graphic Designer
We were married in May of 2003. Around that same time, we both committed to joining the Crosspoint church plant and serve as worship leaders. We lived in Morton for our first two years of marriage, and then moved to Goodfield in 2005 so we could get plugged into the community that God is reaching through Crosspoint. Erik joined the volunteer fire department and began working at Trinity Stone Center in Goodfield, and Bree joined Crosspoint’s staff as a part time administrative assistant. We love building relationships, and God has given us many opportunities to invest in the lives of our neighbors and friends in our community. In May of 2008, we welcomed our daughter, Josie, into our world. God has poured His love out on us a family. After Josie was born, Bree was able to be a stay-at-home mom and began doing part time graphic deisgn work for Crosspoint. In September of 2009, God opened up a whole new world and a whole new vision for our lives. We were called into full-time ministry with Crosspoint. So we are leaving the comforts of what we know and joining the front lines of life change as Erik becomes Crosspoint’s Worship and Student Pastor and newest staff member. We are so excited to be here! God has burned in us a passion to show the youth in this community that they have worth in Jesus, and that, as a friend of mine put it, they are not just the church of tomorrow, but they are the church of today!
So here’s what we do in our free time. Erik likes to hunt, fish, camp (no, I don’t work at Gander Mountain), geocache, put fires out, blow up fireworks (those two are unrelated), play guitar, read, play games. Bree likes to do all things artsy, especially graphic design, card making, and sewing. She also loves to spend time outdoors with her family.

Krista Swanson, Office Manager/Bookkeeper
I have been married to my wonderful husband Craig for 29 years. We both grew up in a small town not far from here and begin dating from getting to know each other through youth group. We moved to Eureka shortly after we were married and raised both our children here. We started coming to Crosspoint in the Fall of 2005 and knew fairly quickly that this is where God wanted us. He placed on our hearts the call to lead the youth group and along with an awesome team of leaders we are now in our fourth year of working with the youth.
In May of 2007 I became the bookkeeper for Crosspoint then in November 2008 started working as the office secretary as well. I am very excited to be a part of such a great ministry as Crosspoint Community Church and look forward to being a part of what God has in store for our church!
Besides my work here at Crosspoint, I am a realtor for Century 21 and work with the high school cheerleaders. In any spare time I can find, I love to golf, read, scrapbook, and spend time with friends and family, especially my three grandchildren Hunter, Carter, & Lily!
